With its scenic views, mild climate, and friendly people, Vancouver is known around the world as one of the best places to live and is a popular tourist attraction. Vancouver is also one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada, with 52% of the population speaking a first language other than English. Vancouver has been host to many international conferences and events, including the 2010 Winter Olympics and 2010 Winter Paralympics.
Warmed by Pacific Ocean currents and protected by a range of mountains, Vancouver's weather is mild year-round. From high 70s Fahrenheit (low 20s Celsius) in summer to a mild mid-40s Fahrenheit (0º to 5º Celsius) in winter, the climate is always hospitable. The winters are wet, but it rarely snows, except on local ski hills.
TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is an international airport in Richmond, British Columbia. It is the primary international airport serving Vancouver, about 12 km (7.5 mi) from downtown Vancouver. It is the second busiest airport in Canada by aircraft movements (306,799) and passengers (25.9 million), behind Toronto Pearson International Airport. It is often described as a trans-Pacific hub, with more direct flights to China than any other airport in North America or Europe. It is a hub for Air Canada and WestJet, and it is an operating base for Air Transat. Vancouver International Airport is one of eight Canadian airports that have US Border Preclearance facilities. It is also one of the few major international airports to have a terminal for scheduled floatplanes. The airport has won several notable international best airport awards. It won the Skytrax Best North American Airport award in 2007 and 2010 through 2019, for a record 10 consecutive years. The airport also made the list of top 10 airports in the world for the first time in 2012, rated at 9th (2012), 8th (2013), and 9th (2014) overall. It is the only North American airport included in the top 10 for 2013 and 2014. YVR also retains the distinction of Best Canadian Airport in the regional results.

WHERE TO EAT
Vancouverites know their city’s culinary scene. They know where to find the best tower of fresh seafood, the finest house-made charcuterie, the most delicious taco truck, and the best list of B.C. wines. Vancouverites are entirely capable of having a stand-up argument about which sushi restaurant is the best, even if both restaurants are exquisite. And the city’s restaurants, wine bars, tasting rooms, cocktail dens, food trucks, farmer’s markets and bakeries are absolutely deserving of this passion. Click here to explore!
There are multiple fast food outlets available at the Waterfront Center which you can get to from the east convention level at the convention center or from the Fairmont Waterfront on the Concourse level - Click here to access the list
Looking for something a little more eclectic? Search the Vancouver Street Food App to get a list of food trucks that are open in the area from day to day.
